Today we're talking about whether you need to pay back deleted accounts and charged-off accounts on a credit report and this is really important because ignorance of the law is not a legal defense in court. The easiest way to remember this is if the debt was not paid by you or cancelled by the furnisher, you owe the debt. What do you do when a deleted account reappears on your credit report? (This is called a reinserted account). This can happen to anyone, regardless of whether you use factual disputes, dispute letter templates like the 609, online disputes, or any other method. What you DO need to know is how to avoid it as best as you can, and how to fight it if it does occur.
