Credit Sweep Q&A #1 - from the conference call

Client Q&A #1 - from last night's conference call

These are client-submitted questions. If you have any comments, questions or suggestions, please let me know and we will address them in the next conference this week!

Why does the sweep process take so long?
The bureaus have 30 to deliver your results, and 45 days if your credit report was obtained via annualcreditreport.com. After we submit your first round, we must wait for these results either in the mail or online before we can send out another round. These results will let us know what steps we have to take next. As soon as we receive the results, we send out the second round, unless the first one took care of the negative items.

What happens if the bureaus come back saying the accounts are verified?
If the bureaus say the disputed items are "verified", do not worry. The items are not legally verified without physical proof with your signature on it. That means either the original contract or agreement. If they do not send you this information, the account was not verified. We would once again send another round with a more stern approach.

If the creditors send me proof after the first round is sent, does that mean they won't come off?
It does not matter whether the creditor sends the proof to you; it must come from the credit bureaus. When you forward it to us, we file it and do nothing in regards to it. All proof must come directly from the bureaus in regards to disputes sent to them.

Is credit repair legal?
Yes, our credit repair method is 100% legal. We use the dispute letter method, which is the only legal method out there. We do not have a "contact" at one of the bureaus, and anyone that states they do is ripping you off. Everything that we do, you can do yourself. It is basically the same as hiring an attorney; you can always represent yourself. Why would you do that when you want a professional with your best interest in mind?

Does correspondence come to me or your company?
We do everything on your behalf- we use your information on the letters and also on the faxes and mail sent out. Nothing comes to us. and you would need to let us know when you receive any correspondence and forward it to us. The only updates that we are able to access are those on your credit monitoring site, which is normally Equifax. You will forward everything received to us via fax or email and we act accordingly in response.

Will the bureaus/creditors/collection agencies know that I am using a credit repair company?
No, they will not. All correspondence will have your information on it, and they will respond to you at your address via USPS mail.

If I have a closed account without a balance and negative comments, should it be removed or corrected?
Accounts with a $0 balance and negative comments will be corrected. Accounts with a balance and negative comments will be removed.

Once my file is completed, will you assist with rebuilding my file?
We do not do file-building, but there are 2 ways that we can assist you:
#1- credit counseling - we will counsel you to make good credit decisions and let you know what will help or hurt your credit in the future.
#2- primary lines - you may purchase primary lines which will help your score and history; they stay on 12 months and report to all 3 bureaus.

I have a lot of addresses and my name is even spelled wrong- can this be fixed?
We care about your entire credit health. One of the first things that we do is remove all personal information that is not current. This assists in a couple ways:
#1- Creditors do not like multiple addresses
#2- Items are easily removed when the address/other information they have for the account does not match the current information that is reporting on your credit.

Tips for my brokers; Craigslist, Facebook, websites, advertising and more!

I work 90% with brokers, 10% with clients, and I actually prefer to work with brokers, as I have contact with only one person instead of 300 clients. So considering there are 528 of you brokers, I figured that I would post some tips and tricks for my brokers. I will break it down into sections to make it easier reading, and if you have any questions, comments or suggestions, let me know! Advertising Advertising can be a serious pain in the butt, and it is utterly necessary for a business like this one. I will give you a couple of suggestions that work for me. I am mostly just word of mouth now and do not need to advertise, as I have thousands of clients, but there are days when I do put my business out there again for new clients. Craigslist It is quite difficult to advertise with CL now, but there are tons of ways to get around being flagged or to prevent it from happening. CL is the 4th most visited site in the  world , so that right there should tell you that you need...

3 Resons why you should wait to apply for new credit

Applying for new credit before all derogatory items are deleted: My advice to my clients is always the same: wait until you're done with your credit repair or credit sweep program, but have a strategy to move forward from there. Here's a few reasons why: #1 you may be denied if you still have 1-2 items remaning and will end up with new inquiries that will drop your score #2 it may hinder the process of removing the last few items and can add 1-3 months to the timeframe #3 you may be approved with a very low limit and would have to wait 3-5 months prior to requesting an increase. In comparison, you can wait til everything has been completed and obtain a higher limit right off the bat. Here's a real-life example: I have a client would only has 4/86 negative items remaining and he wanted to move forward with his mortgage. I advised him to wait because (see #1) it would add inquiries and he may not be approved. He'd mentioned tha...
