Difference Between Charge-off & Collection on a Credit Report


Today we're talking about how to tell the difference between charge-off and collection on a credit report so that you can dispute it the right way and use a dispute letter strategy that gets results. Bottom line to this video: You cannot dispute a charge-off the same way that you would dispute a collection so you need to take a look at the account type on the credit report and create your action plan accordingly. If the account type says "collection/charge-off" or any variation of this, it means that the account is a CHARGE-OFF, and it needs to be disputed as such.
