Credit Sweep Q&A #1 - from the conference call

Client Q&A #1 - from last night's conference call
These are client-submitted questions. If you have any comments, questions or suggestions, please let me know and we will address them in the next conference this week!
Why does the sweep process take so long? The bureaus have 30 to deliver your results, and 45 days if your credit report was obtained via annualcreditreport.com. After we submit your first round, we must wait for these results either in the mail or online before we can send out another round. These results will let us know what steps we have to take next. As soon as we receive the results, we send out the second round, unless the first one took care of the negative items.
What happens if the bureaus come back saying the accounts are verified? If the bureaus say the disputed items are "verified", do not worry. The items are not legally verified without physical proof with your signature on it. That means either the original contract or agreement. If they do…

Should you delete the account or have it corrected?

Do you have accounts that you're not too certain about? Should you remove it or should you have it corrected?
Is there a formula for figuring this out? It isn't that complicated! Let's say that you have the following accounts:
Open accounts: NFCU - account still in use; late payments reporting in comments and statusCapital One - account still in use; late payments reporting in comments and status

Closed accounts: Chase Card - collectionComenity Bank - charge-offBank of America - $0 balance; late payments for 3 months

Bottom line: We can remove the negative account whether it is open or closed. If you are still using the account and would like to keep it, we would not delete it. On your next payment, the account would report again. If you do not wish to continue using it, we are able to remove it completely. We can update the negative comments to reflect positively, meaning that the negatives (more than likely late payments) are removed.
If the account is closed and negative, we wo…

Consumer Rights: Your Rights

You can ask for an investigation —at no charge to you — of information in your file that you dispute as inaccurate or incomplete. Some people hire a company to investigate for them, but anything a credit repair company can do legally, you can do for yourself at little or no cost. By law:
You’re entitled to a free credit report if a company takes “adverse action” against you, like denying your application for credit, insurance, or employment. You have to ask for your report within 60 days of receiving notice of the action. The notice includes the name, address, and phone number of the consumer reporting company. You’re also entitled to one free report a year if you’re unemployed and plan to look for a job within 60 days; if you’re on welfare; or if your report is inaccurate because of fraud, including identity theft.
Each of the nationwide credit reporting companies — Equifax, Ex…
